Cumberland Falls Rainbow Ornament
This Cumberland Falls rainbow ornament captures one of those wonderful moments when a place I’ve photographed many times suddenly gives me something completely different. On this visit to Cumberland Falls in Kentucky, the light and mist came together just right and I was able to photograph two rainbows below the falls.
Cumberland Falls has been part of my life since I first visited when I was three years old. I’ve returned again and again through the years, both for the beautiful views and to hike the trails surrounding the falls. No matter how many times I visit, though, nature has a way of changing the scene.
That’s one of the things I love about returning to familiar places with my camera. You may know the landscape well, but you never really know what the light, weather and water are going to give you. Seeing those two rainbows appear beneath the falls made this particular visit—and this photograph—especially memorable.
For someone who has visited Cumberland Falls State Resort Park or has their own memories of Kentucky, this ornament is a little way to bring that beautiful place back each Christmas. It also makes a unique keepsake for waterfall lovers, hikers and anyone who appreciates those fleeting moments in nature that don’t happen quite the same way twice.
Cumberland Falls Rainbow Ornament – Ceramic or Wood
The 3-inch round ceramic ornament has a glossy finish that brings out the colors of the rainbows and the fine details of the original photograph.
The wood ornament has a softer, more rustic appearance. The natural wood grain shows through the photograph, particularly in lighter areas, and darker areas of the image will reproduce darker on wood. Because the grain varies naturally, no two wood ornaments will look exactly alike.
For the brightest color and greatest photographic detail—especially in the rainbows—choose ceramic. Choose wood if you prefer the softer appearance and character of natural wood grain.

The photograph on this ornament is my own original photography and the finished piece is signed. While I love traveling throughout the United States with my camera, Kentucky will always be special to me, and Cumberland Falls is one of those places I continue to return to and photograph.
