Lost Lake Colorado Ornament
This Lost Lake Colorado ornament features one of my favorite photographs from an autumn trip to the mountains near Crested Butte. After a short hike to Lost Lake, I was greeted with one of those Colorado scenes that seemed to have a little bit of everything I love to photograph.
Golden aspens lined the edge of the lake, their fall color reflecting in the water, while snowcapped mountains rose beyond the trees in the distance. The combination of autumn color, reflections, water and fresh snow on the mountains made this one of those views where I knew I was going to be spending some time with my camera.
Colorado in the fall is spectacular on a grand scale, but I especially love finding places like this where all the individual pieces come together in one scene. The golden aspens would have been beautiful by themselves. Add their reflections in the lake and those snowy mountain peaks in the background, though, and this quickly became one of my favorite photographs from the area.
Lost Lake is near Kebler Pass and Crested Butte, Colorado, an area I love exploring and photographing during the fall. For someone who has traveled through this beautiful part of Colorado, this ornament can bring back memories of an autumn adventure each Christmas. It also makes a meaningful keepsake for hikers, mountain lovers, Colorado travelers and anyone who can’t resist golden aspens in the fall.
Lost Lake Colorado Ornament – Ceramic or Wood
The 3-inch round ceramic ornament has a glossy finish that brings out the golden aspens, reflections and details in the snowcapped mountains.
The wood ornament has a softer, more rustic appearance. The natural wood grain shows through the photograph, particularly in lighter areas, and darker areas of the image will reproduce darker on wood. Because the grain varies naturally, no two wood ornaments will look exactly alike.
For the brightest color and greatest photographic detail, choose ceramic. Choose wood if you prefer the softer appearance and character of natural wood grain.
