Slot Canyon Ornament
This slot canyon ornament features one of those incredible moments when light completely transforms a landscape. I photographed this scene in Antelope Canyon X near Page, Arizona, just as a brilliant beam of sunlight reached down through the narrow opening above and illuminated the canyon below.
Slot canyons are some of my favorite places to photograph. I love the way the sandstone twists and curves, with light bouncing from wall to wall and bringing out wonderful colors in the rock. Around every bend there seems to be another shape, texture or play of light waiting to be discovered.
The sunbeams are something extra special. Our guide knew when the sunlight should reach into the canyon, so we were there waiting for it. The beam didn’t last long, which made the opportunity to photograph it even more memorable. We were lucky enough to see two sunbeams that day. Sometimes conditions can produce three, but on this day there were two—and I was very happy to have my camera ready!
For just a short time, that shaft of sunlight became part of the canyon itself, surrounded by all those wonderful curves, textures and colors in the sandstone. Moments like this are exactly why I love photographing slot canyons.

Slot Canyon Ornament – Ceramic or Wood
The 3-inch round ceramic ornament has a glossy finish that brings out the color, light and fine details of the original photograph.
The wood ornament has a softer, more rustic appearance. The natural wood grain shows through the photograph, particularly in lighter areas, and darker areas of the image will reproduce darker on wood. Because the grain varies naturally, no two wood ornaments will look exactly alike.
For the brightest color and greatest photographic detail, choose ceramic. Choose wood if you prefer the softer appearance and character of natural wood grain.
